Technical Paper Stocks & Finishes
Premium 16 pt. & 14 pt. Cardstock
Our door hangers are printed on heavy-duty cardstocks to ensure they hang securely and withstand outdoor elements.
Our 16pt Cardstock measures approximately 0.016 inches in caliper thickness, providing exceptional structural rigidity that prevents curling in the wind[1].
Our 14pt Cardstock (0.014 inches thick) is specifically utilized for our uncoated options, delivering a sturdy yet classic feel with supreme writability.
Professional Finishes
- 16pt Semi-Gloss: A beautifully balanced, medium sheen that enhances color vibrance while avoiding heavy glare.
- 16pt UV Gloss (Both Sides): A striking, highly reflective finish. This UV-cured polymer film adds significant scuff and weather resistance, perfect for outdoor door hangers[2].
- 16pt UV Gloss Front / Matte Back: Maximum impact on the front, readable and writable on the back. Perfect for writing down estimates or personal notes.
- 14pt Uncoated: Completely writable on both sides. It possesses a natural, raw paper texture that absorbs ink instantly.

Ensure your artwork is print-ready. Our blank layout templates include exact guidelines for the bleed area, trim line, text safety zone, and critically—the exact location of the die-cut hole and slit so you don't place text where it will be punched out.
Technical Print Guidelines
- Bleed Area (+0.125"): Extend background colors or full-bleed images here to prevent white borders after cutting.
- Trim Line: The final physical dimension where the door hanger will be cut.
- Safe Zone (-0.125"): Keep all critical text, logos, and borders inside this area. Ensure elements are clear of the top die-cut hole and slit!
Designing an Effective Door Hanger
Creating a door hanger requires specific strategic thinking. It’s a literal billboard on a customer’s front door. Follow these design tips to make your campaign impactful and memorable:
Mind the Die-Cut Hole.
Remember that the top 1.5 to 2 inches of your design will feature a hole and a slit. Keep all crucial text, logos, and contact information strictly in the safety zone to avoid having them punched out.
Call your customers to action.
Don't just introduce yourself; tell them what to do next. Add a QR code linking to your booking page, or feature a bold tear-off style coupon at the bottom to convert marketing into significant sales.
Lead with a bold, legible headline.
Your door hanger is viewed from a few feet away as the homeowner approaches their door. Use large, legible fonts for a bold headline that immediately states your value (e.g., "Free Landscaping Estimate!").
Use bright colors and high contrast.
Your door hanger needs to capture attention instantly. Use high-contrast color palettes and high-resolution imagery that aligns with your brand, leading the eye down to your contact info.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Will you verify my design before printing?
-
A: Absolutely. We never print blindly. Our prepress team manually reviews every single order. We specifically check to ensure your text and logos are safely away from the die-cut doorknob hole.
- Q: Do you really offer free shipping?
-
A: Yes! Every door hanger order we fulfill comes with 100% Free U.S. Ground Shipping to the contiguous United States, with no hidden fees.
- Q: What sizes of door hangers do you offer?
-
A: We offer the two most popular and effective sizes: the standard 3.5" x 8.5" and the jumbo 4.25" x 11". Both come with a standard hole and slit to fit over any doorknob.
- Q: How big is the die-cut hole?
-
A: The die-cut hole is an industry-standard 1.25 inches in diameter, accompanied by a straight slit that makes it easy to slide over standard doorknobs and levers.
- Q: Can I write on the back of my door hangers?
-
A: Yes. If you plan to write estimates or notes on the back, we highly recommend selecting the "16pt UV Gloss Front / Matte Back" or the "14pt Uncoated" options, as standard pens will not smear on these surfaces.
- Q: What paper stocks are available?
-
A: We offer four premium stocks: 16pt Semi-Gloss, 16pt High UV Gloss (Both Sides), 16pt UV Gloss Front with Matte Back, and 14pt Uncoated.
- Q: What is Semi-Gloss?
-
A: Semi-Gloss is a balanced coating that provides a slight sheen. It makes colors vibrant like a full gloss but reduces the heavy, reflective glare, resulting in a clean, highly professional look.
- Q: Are these door hangers water-resistant?
-
A: While they are made of thick paper cardstock and are not completely waterproof, opting for the High UV Gloss coating provides a protective polymer layer that adds significant weather and scuff resistance.
- Q: What resolution should my artwork be?
-
A: We require all design files to be set at a minimum of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) to guarantee a crisp, high-quality, professional print without pixelation.
- Q: How much bleed do I need to include in my design?
-
A: Please include an extra 0.125" (1/8 inch) bleed around the entire perimeter of your design. For example, a 3.5" x 8.5" door hanger should be submitted at a size of 3.75" x 8.75".
- Q: Should I submit my files in RGB or CMYK?
-
A: All files should be converted to CMYK color mode prior to submission. CMYK is the exact color process used for commercial physical printing, ensuring true color accuracy.
- Q: How long is the turnaround time?
-
A: Once your proof is approved by our manual prepress team, standard printing turnaround is typically 2–4 business days. Expedited production options are available at checkout.
